I'm Sorry For Your Lost

Well meaning words that sometimes hurt instead of bringing comfort. A very good friend's father passed away the evening before I was to fly off. Having lost someone dear before, I understand the tears, the grief, the sorrow. What I don't understand is the constant advice to 'not cry', 'not feel sad', 'to toughen it up and move on'. In this modern society, are tears really such a taboo? What's wrong with grief and sorrow? Are they not a testimony of love to the departed. Sometimes, not saying anything is perhaps the best way to go. A tight hug...a silent tear...these things...well, they say more than any words can.
